Our History

In 2006, a collaboration that included Pottstown School District, community childcare, and area funders began discussions related to improving the readiness of children entering kindergarten. Working together during a year-long planning process, the collaboration created the outline for the Pottstown Early Action for Kindergarten Readiness (PEAK) initiative with the ultimate goal of ensuring that every child in Pottstown has access to early childhood learning opportunities that prepare them to be successful in kindergarten. PEAK was funded through an initial planning grant and expanded through multiple grant sources.

This unique collaboration in Pottstown forms one common vision for early childhood education in the community resulting in higher quality early learning programs, increased resources for families, and improved readiness for school. The PEAK initiative is funded through Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation, and other donations/grants.
