Pottstown community organizations create a strong social safety net to ensure equity for all so that:
All families' basic needs are met;
All children receive the support they need to thrive;
All children are ready for school and to succeed educationally and socially.
PEAK increases the school readiness and success of children in Pottstown by cultivating a network of organizations that support young children and partner with families.
In 2006, a collaboration that included Pottstown School District, community childcare, and area funders began discussions related to improving the readiness of children entering kindergarten. Working together during a year-long planning process, the collaboration created the outline for the Pottstown Early Action for Kindergarten Readiness (PEAK) initiative with the ultimate goal of ensuring that every child in Pottstown has access to early childhood learning opportunities that prepare them to be successful in kindergarten. PEAK was funded through an initial planning grant and expanded through multiple grant sources.
