Q: Who is eligible for Pre-K Counts?
A: PA Pre-K Counts is designed for children who: are between age 3 and until the entry age for kindergarten; and live in families earning up to 300% of the federal poverty level.  Click HERE to see if you qualify.
 
Q: How much does Pre-K Counts cost?
A: PA Pre-K Counts is free to families. The portion of the day that is funded through PA Pre-K Counts is free to families; the program may charge for additional portions of the day (wraparound child care, etc.)
 
Q: Do I have to reside within the Pottstown Borough to apply for the Pottstown Pre-K Counts Program?
A: No, the Pottstown Pre-K program is open to all residents of Pennsylvania. Students from other local districts are invited to apply to our Community Partner sites.
 
Q: How old does my child have to be to attend the Pre-K Counts Program? 
A: Children must be 3 or 4 years old by September 1st to attend our Community Partner sites located throughout Pottstown. Children attending a Pottstown School District Elementary building must be 4 years old by September 1st.  
 
Q: My financial income is over the 300% financial guideline limit amount for my household size. Can I still apply for the Pre-K Counts program?

Q: How do I apply?
A: First, visit our "Choose a Pre-K Site" page to determine which site fits your needs. If you are applying for a Community Partner site, visit their website or call to enroll. If you are applying to an Elementary School or the North End Early Learning Center, please click HERE and follow the steps to register.
 
Q: What Documents do I need to bring?
A: The following are needed at ALL locations:
1. A copy of your child's birth certificate  
2. Copies of your most recent Tax Return, W-2 forms, Social Security, or current pay stubs
3. Completed physical/immunization records
4. Two (2) proofs of residency
5. Custody orders/Foster paperwork (if applicable)
6. IEP (if applicable) 
 
Q: Is transportation provided?
A: No, transportation is not provided to or from the program. Families are required to provide transportation to and from school each day. 

 
Q: My child receives Early Intervention services through an outside organization. Is my child able to receive these services at school?
A: Yes, we have several outside agencies that visit children in our Pre-K program and provided early intervention services to them during instructional hours. 


 
Q: What supplies does my child need for the program?
A: The grant provides all necessary classroom supplies. Lunch and snack is also provided free of charge. We ask each child to bring a book bag.

 
Q: Do you provide before or aftercare for the program?
A: Yes, but only at our community partner sites: Kindercare, Wonderspring Center, Pottstown YMCA & Warwick ChildCare Center.
